fabulous website with all the bells and whistles, have the most
incredible products and services and still loose out to the guy who
knows how to drive traffic.
It's a truth
that has stood even before websites even for thousands of years.

all have heard the phrase all roads lead to Rome, right?
Of
course, it's an iconic phrase, but how many times have you heard "All
roads lead to Wabaningo, Michigan?
Never?
Well,
that's probably because in its time, all roads pretty much did lead to
Rome and more importantly they had signs all up and down them saying
"Rome
2000 kilometers ahead" and what not.
The reason you
never heard the phrase "all roads lead to Wabaningo,"
is because simply, they just don't.
In-fact
you
probably won't ever hear about Wabaningo because
there is only one road that leads to it and if you want to leave (which
you may not because it happens to be a fabulous resort community on the
shore much nicer than Rome in many respects) you'd have to go
back on the same road you came in on.
Very few people ever find Wabaningo and if they do stumble upon it,
they may
never find it again to get back.
You can't afford to
have a website as hard to find as Wabaningo, you need to start building
as many roads into your website as possible.
"There are only two
way's of getting Traffic"
There are
only two way's to get traffic one costs a lot of your time and money
and
the other is free.
If you want a lot of
traffic quick, and your willing to pay for it you can jump on the pay
per click wagon. Pay per click advertising is akin to building a
temporary bridge to your site, one that the moment you stop
paying for, the bridge falls away stranding your customers so they can
never
find there way back to you.
You can also build an
affiliate team.
While sometimes this can
work very well, you'll find that some affiliates "as road builders to
your site" are as valuable as the sweaty guys in the orange vests
standing on the side of the highway trying to fill potholes with
cigarette butts.
Then there is the free
way!
The
free way is the "freeway" to traffic!
Of course
there
is no real "free" lunch in this world even, "free samples" are a form
of
advertisement for something someone knows you'll need more of later and
will
be willing to pay for.

some cases even the learning, they still use the same "free" avenues

helped Obama get elected.
- Newspapers
that have
been around for two
hundred years, are folding under the competition of blogs. I
can leave a
comment on a blog with a link for free and get more hits than I could
from buying a full page ad in the old newspaper.

found an old friend
from
high school who I found now is a contractor from reading his
MySpace profile, and at this moment he getting paid to tinker around
in my basement.
- Due
to my laziness,
the only way I can ever seem to find one of my friends
websites is to open an old email from them and click on the hot link in
their signature.
- I
just found some
cool new electronic stuff for my boat by
clicking on a link from some guys profile I found in a FaceBook
Group.
- I
earned several
thousand dollars through a link just by answering
a Yahoo Question.
- I
know someone who
basically makes his living off a
Squidoo Lens!
The
possibility's are endless, the
profits are extraordinary and the cost is zilch!
The
lesson of extraordinary improvements and keeping the old avenues of
traffic open:
There is a
five lane road in my city that was busy as all get out but the
town fathers neglected the upkeep on it and now it's a bone rattling
teeth, clenching ride. It's seldom traveled now for fear of damage to
ones
car. Although it's lined with businesses and was once a thriving
section of
town, now it full of vacant store fronts. Across town next to the
freeway they widened an old country road to five lanes and
where once nothing but corn grew, business are springing up, it seems
two a day.
If you
want your website sales to thrive you have to
continually move where the new roads are being built.
When
I needed a belt for my vacuum I risked traveling the old bumpy road in
the dead part of town, to a vacuum shop, I remembered my mother
stopping
at when I was a younger. When I got to the shop, it was vacant
but a sign on the door had a map showing me where they moved.
So off I went to search for
one of the micro mini strip malls that had sprung up in mall parking
lots on the new road by the
highway. I never would have found it otherwise due to a mistake made
when they printed the new phone books.
If
you want your website sales to thrive you need to make sure your using
every thing possible to steer traffic to your doors. Leave no rock
unturned (and make sure your map is in the window that all the old
timers
check)!
Even if you think you missed the MySpace
revolution don't let
it go. Make sure you go back and do what you need to do, to get
die hard MySpaceoholics to your website.
Just Make Sure That When You
Are Using Free Traffic Methods That You Don't Screw Up!
People
don't
need to un-follow a person on Twitter for fear of offending them
anymore, they can just use an add-on, to filter them out. You can tweet
and tweet
all day and never realize that the world has been sickened by you and
is now
permanently ignoring you!
People
often find business damaging information about a person from the
company
they keep on Facebook and MySpace.
The
point is...It's easy
to spend to much time thinking you are building free
traffic to your sales pages when in-fact your just wasting
time
spinning your
wheels or doing yourself damage.
Let
me say that again: If don't do your home work you
can spend a lot of time striving for the magic shortcut; while
you
may not be spending any money, you may not be doing anything
that
